The US Marines have decided to buy 45 wheeled HIMARS rocket launchers to equip two battalions of the 14th Marine Artillery Regiment. HIMARS is basically a heavy truck fitted to carry and fire one of the rocket pods that normally fit on the armored MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) vehicles. The Marines will have a battery ready for war by 2008 and both battalions ready by 2009.--Stephen V Cole
