The UAE has decided to buy another dozen 24-meter landing craft to provide greater capabilities for their forces. (Three of these craft were ordered from Abu Dhabi last year.) Each craft carries a crew of three, 42 armed troops, and machineguns. Driven by waterjets powered by two MTU-12A diesel engines, the Swedish-designed craft can reach 33 knots. Three larger 64-meter craft are also on order.--Stephen V Cole
