Canada has received the first of 114 Leopard-1C2 tanks being refitted with new technology. The C2 version includes new fire control and the new Tactical Command, Control, and Communications system. The Canadians bought 123 Leopard-1A5s from Germany in 1996 and paid the GLS company to remove the turrets, install the new fire control systems, ship the turrets to Canada, and install them on the existing Canadian Leopard-C1 tanks, displacing their original turrets. --Stephen V Cole
