New Zealand has ordered 105 wheeled 8x8 LAV-3 armored personnel carriers from Canada to equip both regular infantry battalions (which now have M113s). They also ordered 700 SINCGARS VHF very-high-frequency radios, 400 high frequency PRC117F dual-band radios, and 700 PRC148 hand-held radios. New Zealand has, however, canceled plans to refit its six P3C Orion patrol planes, saying it must do the best it can with what money it has.-Stephen V Cole
