The US Army has received the first operational units of its new Prophet ground-based electronic warfare system. Mounted in a humvee ("Hummer"), the system is raised on an extendable mast and includes systems to detect, location, eavesdrop on, and jam enemy radio communications and other electronic signals. The prototype unit has already been sent to Afghanistan. The Army plans to buy 83 of these Block-1 systems, and more of the planned Blocks 2, 3, 4, and 5.--Stephen V Cole
