The US Army is ready to issue a new camouflage face paint that has insect repellent mixed in, and is available for the first time in black. Current paints are available in light and dark green for normal terrain, white and dark green for the Arctic, or light green and sand for the desert. Soldiers who also want to use insect repellent must apply it, wait for it to dry, and then apply face paint. The Army is trying to find a face paint that would block the thermal signature of human skin but has yet to find a workable solution.--Stephen V Cole
