Cyberwar has been used against the Osama Bin Laden terror network. Bank accounts have been hacked and funds deleted or transferred. Although in most cases the hacking was just to collect information on the location and extent of Bin Laden's resources. Cell and satellite phone communications have been jammed. There are up to 200 web sites that support Bin Laden and other Islamic terrorists and these have also been hit, or hacked to provide access to computers containing more information. In this way, information on terrorists, their supporters and contributors can be obtained. The terrorists have noted some of this and have responded by increasing their cyberdefenses and using more encryption.
