February 20, 2008: Taiwan has set up a commercial company, Taiwan Goal, to expedite the purchase and shipment of military equipment for Taiwan. This organization will work directly with foreign suppliers and Taiwanese officials to try and avoid bureaucratic problems and misunderstandings. It is believed that foreign firms will be more comfortable working with an "expediting firm" rather than the usual military or government bureaucrats (and their well-deserved reputation for falling all over themselves.) Many politicians and government officials do not oppose the idea of Taiwan Goal, and want to do things the traditional way.
