The Pentagon has decided to delay production of the F-22 Raptor fighter by one year in order to further develop the aircraft and establish the subcontractor base. Japan needs to replace its aging AH-1S Cobra anti-tank helicopters, and is reviewing bids from Boeing (AH-64), Bell (AH-1A), and Eurocopter (Tiger). It is also considering a plan to order additional OH-1 observation helicopters refitted with armor plate and anti-tank missiles.--Stephen V Cole
