Britain has converted about 75% of its defense research labs (from the old Defence Evaluation and Research Agency) into the private company Qinetiq; the remainder are now under a new state agency named the Defence Science & Technology Laboratory. Qinetiq is setting up a US branch to seek work in the US market.--Stephen V Cole
