Central African Republic (CAR) Prime Minister Martin Ziguele told the UN on 26 August that Chadian troops with ground-to-ground missiles, tanks and heavy artillery had penetrated 11 miles into his country on 6 August. Chadian units wound up attacking CAR government troops, although the results of this encounter are unknown. On 14 August, the summit set up a commission to visit the area and to ascertain what had happened. The commission has yet to submit its findings. Chad wants Abdoulaye Miskine (a Chadian who has been living in CAR since 1998) handed over or removed from the border area from which he has been mounting cross-border raids. Meanwhile, the CAR wants the fugitive general and former armed forces chief of staff Francois Bozize (exiled to Chad) for questioning about a failed coup. Bozize's supporters allegedly attacked the CAR town of Kabo, about 40 miles south of the Chad border. - Adam Geibel
