FARC rebels warned that peace talks would break down if the government did not extend FARC control of a Switzerland size zone in the center of the country. The government grant of control expires January 31st. Talks have been halted since November when the rebels demanded the government crack down on the right wing AUC. The government has moved 2,500 troops to the FARC zone, making it appear that they plan to re-take control. This could lead to heavy fighting.
