Israelis feel their conservative prime minister, Ariel Sharon, is going along with the American proposed peace plan simply to please the Americans, and to demonstrate to them that the Palestinians have no intention of allowing Israel to exist. This, however, makes many Israelis nervous, because every time pressure is taken off the terrorists (by withdrawing troops from Palestinian territory), terrorists attacks increase and more Israelis get killed.
