Three former members were killed today, along with three unidentified people, by masked men. Some of the former Bakassi Boys were criminals, and returned to that after the group was broken up. In many parts of the country, criminal gangs virtually control neighborhoods, villages or stretches of road. Police and army troops have been fighting a low level war with these gangs, particularly those that interfere with road traffic.
