Central African Republic police forces fired teargas canisters into a rioting crowd in the capital of Bangui. The riot began when local merchants and foreign traders confronted one another. One trader from Chad was killed in a confrontation on February 16. The riot began when officials tried to remove unlicensed businesses from the main town market.
